Piyush Ragha (he/him)

Piyush, founder of Alchemist Society in Austin, TX, began his career over two decades ago. His background includes serving as Regional Director and In-House educator for two renowned, global hairdressing brands in the Dallas, TX market. He always had an eye for color, and after studying pre-med in college, he decided to devote his life to a career that married these passions - hair chemistry offered the perfect balance of technicality and artistry. As his career continued to flourish, Piyush left Dallas and moved to Austin in 2010, where he joined Propaganda Hair Group to lead a team committed to creating beautiful, healthy hair. In 2020, Piyush opened Alchemist Society, a creative space focused in the science and sustainable beauty of hairdressing.

"I approached this industry inspired by what color can offer a client - a way to showcase one's identity to the outside world, to convey a feeling or season, and most importantly, to inspire confidence and developed personhood. I am inspired by my connection to nature and my community, and I hope to enrich these special places with products that nourish the person and the planet", Piyush says. “I believe that healthy, beautiful hair begins with using the correct home hair care regimen. I love product knowledge and how ingredients can work to benefit the hair."

Piyush’s in-depth focus on hair education cemented his dedication to enhancing the careers of his fellow hair professionals. His work with some of the top colorists in the industry influences his teaching style, leading to course experiences that are often described as both “informative and energetic”. Piyush feels the “sustainability and ethics of Davines” pairs perfectly with his personal hair philosophy and counts becoming one of four National Master Trainers for Davines North America as one of his top professional achievements.

"I am very invested in my community, and I feel that teaching is such an important way to give back," Piyush says. "Helping my salon family and Davines team develop their skills has been such a wonderful process; I'm so honored for the opportunity and the experiences I've had as an educator and mentor. More inclusivity and feedback allows us all to grow, and getting to see that feedback take root is very rewarding."
